About MAXAM
Our Story
Some companies start with a business plan. Ours started with a problem.
In the late 1970s, Harry Edwards was a carpenter working with local councils. Every time a window was smashed, the same process followed - boards, drills, noise, and disruption. Buildings were left looking worse, not better.
One day, a council asked a simple question: “Is there a better way than boarding up?”
Harry believed there had to be.
After years of trial and development, he created a semi-rigid polyester film with a powerful adhesive backing that could be applied to broken glass in seconds. No drilling, no mess, no noise. Just a clean, safe, weatherproof repair that let light back in.
In 1985, MAXAM was founded on that idea. Harry took it directly to councils, schools, and hospitals, showing a better way.
That same thinking still drives us today - simple solutions to real problems.
